Fair Trade Cleaning
Regular Services

Basic cleaning involves a thorough dusting and vacuuming of the furniture in the living room, dining room, halls, and bedrooms, including picture frames, lampshades and baseboards as well as polishing the woodwork. We get into the corners.

In the kitchens we clean and disinfect the counter tops and sinks, and wipe down the outsides of the major appliances and clean the inside of your microwave. Then we sweep and wash you floors. We also spot clean any finger prints throughout the house or apartment.

In the bathroom we thoroughly clean and disinfect all the fixtures and polish the taps and mirrors. We get the soap scum off the shower surround and door and then sweep and wash the floor.

Additional Cleaning (or jobs considered to be outside of a basic quote because they add more time) might include any of the following:

o Vacuuming stove vents or refrigerator coils
o Window washing (inside only, we’ve lost a few cleaners attempting the outside)
o Clean tops of cabinets
o Clean light fixtures
o Clean vertical blinds
o Polish the silver
o Clean ceiling fans
o Wash dishes or place in dishwasher
o Dry dishes and put them away
o Clean oven and racks(s)
o Clean insides of cupboards.
o Clean insides of drawers

Fair Trade Cleaning also works closely with a carpet cleaning company, as well as a number of contractors who do repairs and painting.

SAFETY TIP
NEVER mix BLEACH with AMMONIA or ANY OTHER ACID, including vinegar. It will create deadly fumes and you may not make it out of the room. In fact, NEVER MIX ANY COMMERCIAL CLEANERS TOGETHER.

SAFETY TIP
Avoid using tub and tile cleaners that claim to be ‘scrub free’. They contain dangerous chemicals that can trigger asthma and heart problems and cause your eyes to burn. They’re just not worth it. We suggest a product such as NATURE CLEAN TUB AND TILE CLEANER. Or you can make your own using 1 tsp. washing soda, 1 tsp. borax, 1 tsp. veg.oil based liquid soap, 3 tbsps vinegar and two cups hot tap water. Shake it up, spray it on and rinse or wipe it off.

SAFETY TIP
If you see mouse poop which looks like black rice, put on your safety mask and gloves. I’m not kidding. NEVER HANDLE MOUSE DROPPINGS WITHOUT PROPER SAFETY EQUIPMENT. IT’S DANGEROUS. It carries diseases such as Hanta virus, lymphocytic, horiomeningitis and leptospirosis. First spray it with a disinfectant like oxygen bleach or Benefect. Use a damp cloth to gather it up. Avoid vacuuming as it aerates the particles making them easier to inhale. Avoid touching it with your bare hands. If this totally creeps you out, call Fair Trade Cleaning. We’ll send in the mouse squad.
